Course Description
This 1-hour course provided an overview of Lingraphica’s AAC and therapy technologies and the research supporting their development. Information was provided on clinical methodology to identify patients who might benefit from AAC. This course also addressed common AAC myths and misconceptions and the evidence for best practices with AAC introduction and implementation.

  • 5 minutes: Introduction and overview 

  • 5 minutes: Overview of Lingraphica’s devices, apps and services 

  • 5 minutes: Research background for devices and icons 

  • 10 minutes: Communicative and therapeutic benefits of high tech AAC 

  • 10 minutes: Identifying candidates for high tech AAC 

  • 10 minutes: Addressing common AAC myths  

  • 10 minutes: Conducting an AAC device trial 

  • 5 minutes: Summary and conclusion 

 

Course Completion Requirements 

  1. Attendance and/or Completion of Online Lecture
  2. Completion of Learning Assessment with a minimum score of 70%
  3. Completion of an Activity Evaluation

 

Instructional Personnel 

Caitlin Mueller, MS, CCC-SLP  

Caitlin Mueller joined Lingraphica’s Clinical Consultant Team in 2015. She holds a B.A. in psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a B.S. in Communication Studies from Utah State University and an M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of the Pacific. She has experience with evaluating and treating clients with a variety of communication impairments using multiple AAC devices and apps.
