This course introduced Lingraphica AAC devices, including evidence based and clinical merits. Benefits of high-tech AAC were presented, as well as differential information for identifying candidates for Lingraphica AAC devices. A live demo was given, along with customizing to maximize life participation. Information was given about AAC device trials, funding, and resources from Lingraphica.

  • State three types of benefits patients can receive from high-tech AAC
  • Identify appropriate candidates for Lingraphica AAC devices
  • Describe how the Life Participation Approach can be used as a tool for AAC personalization
  • Complete basic programming functions on a Lingraphica AAC device, including adding and deleting

  • 5 minutes - Introduction 
  • 5 minutes – Defining neuroplasticity and the 10 principles 
  • 10 minutes – What the research tells us 
  • 10 minutes – Communication partner support 
  • 10 minutes – Device customization: salience and LPAA 
  • 15 minutes—Device demonstration: putting the principles to work 
  • 5 minutes - Conclusion and Q&A 

 

Course Completion Requirements 

  1. Attendance and/or Completion of Online Lecture
  2. Completion of Learning Assessment with a minimum score of 70%
  3. Completion of an Activity Evaluation

 

Instructional Personnel 

Faye Stillman, MS, CC-SLP/ATP

Faye Stillman joined Lingraphica in January of 2014, as a Clinical Consultant, and is currently serving in the role of CEU Manager. She is an ASHA certified, and Florida licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), and a RESNA Certified Assistive TechnologyProfessional (ATP). She has authored three books, presented multiple times at ASHA and ATIA, and is an experienced clinician, clinical instructor, CFY supervisor, speech therapy discipline leader and therapy team leader. Faye graduated from the Universityof North Texas and Texas Woman’s University with BA and MS degrees in speech-language pathology, respectively.
