Course Description
This course identified the SLPs role in facilitating conversations with patients about intimacy, sexual health, and consent. We discussed common myths and biases related to intimacy communication and how communication impairments affect interpersonal relationships, intimacy, and sexual health. We also discussed how AAC can improve a patient’s ability to have these conversations.

Anna Reeve, MS, CCC-SLP  

Anna joined Lingraphica in 2019. As a speech-language pathologist, Anna has treated adults with communication and swallowing impairments in primarily outpatient settings, with intermittent experience in the inpatient, home health and SNF settings. She has worked extensively with the adult neurogenic patient population in multidisciplinary clinics. Anna holds a MS degree in Speech- Language Pathology from Idaho State University.

Laura Wolford, PhD, MS, CCC-SLP, CSE  

Laura Wolford is a speech-language pathologist, researcher, and AASECT-certified sex educator. Her primary goal is to teach SLPs how to address sexual health with their clients. As founder of the SPICE Institute, Dr. Wolford teaches speech-language pathologists and other healthcare professionals to address sexual health head-on. She works from a disability justice framework to teach the importance of communication skills to sexual health and safety. She provides workshops to teach how to bring up the topic of sex, how to address intimacy goals, and how to hold space for our clients.
