A live demo was given, along with customizing to maximize life participation. Information was given about AAC device trials, funding, and resources from Lingraphica.

Learning Objectives
 
After completing this course, participants will be able to:​
  • State three types of benefits patients can receive from high-tech AAC
  • Identify appropriate candidates for Lingraphica AAC devices
  • Describe how the Life Participation Approach can be used as a tool for AAC personalization
  • Complete basic programming functions on a Lingraphica AAC device, including adding and deleting

 

Time-Ordered Agenda

  •   5 minutes: Introduction 

  •  5 minutes: Overview of Lingraphica Devices and Supporting Research 

  • 5 minutes: Identifying AAC candidates 

  • 7 minutes: Core benefits of AAC 

  • 10 minutes: Device Customization based on LPAA model 

  • 10 minutes: Device demo 

  • 8 minutes: Fundamentals of device trials 

  • 5 minutes: Other Resources from Lingraphica 

  • 5 minutes: Conclusion and Q & A 

     

Course Completion Requirements 

  1. Attendance and/or Completion of Online Lecture
  2. Completion of Learning Assessment with a minimum score of 70%
  3. Completion of an Activity Evaluation

Beth McHose, MS Ed, CCC-SLP   

Beth joined Lingraphica in 2018. She has experience providing speech and language services for the adult population in the acute, rehab, and home health settings. Beth holds a bachelors in English from Virginia Tech and a Master’s in Communication Sciences and disorders from Old Dominion University.
