This 1-hour course provided research on why it is important to include communication partners in AAC device training. It outlined information about the demographics of communication partners and the challenges they face. The course also provided methods for involving communication partners.

Instructional Personnel 

Audrey L. Holland, Ph.D., CCC/SLP, BC-ANCDS   

Audrey L. Holland has had a long and productive career in Speech and Hearing Sciences, where her major efforts have been concentrated in language disorders in children and adults, with an emphasis on the development of innovative approaches to understanding and treating individuals with aphasia and dementia. She retired from the University of Arizona, where she was Regents’ Professor of Speech and Hearing, and a former Department Head.  Before moving to Arizona, she was Professor of Otolaryngology, and Associate Professor of Psychiatry and the University of Pittsburgh, where she also previously taught in the Department of Communication Disorders. She has published over 170 research articles.  She also has published an assessment measure for adult aphasia and has edited or co-edited 3 books. She is the recipient of numerous national clinical and research awards She maintains active research and clinical collaborations nationally and internationally.  She has served on various review committees and advisory boards for the NIH and VA.  At present, she is Director of Research and Training at the Adler Aphasia Center in Maywood NJ.

Caitlin Mueller, MS, CCC-SLP  

Caitlin Mueller joined Lingraphica’s Clinical Consultant Team in 2015. She holds a B.A. in psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a B.S. in Communication Studies from Utah State University and an M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of the Pacific. She has experience with evaluating and treating clients with a variety of communication impairments using multiple AAC devices and apps.
