Course Description
This course explored the role of profanity in social communication and the SLP’s role in supporting access to taboo language on AAC devices. It covered age-specific examples, ethical considerations, and strategies to promote advocacy and full communication rights. Attendees also saw examples of customizations of taboo vocabulary using Lingraphica AAC devices.

Anna Reeve, MS, CCC-SLP
Anna joined Lingraphica in 2019. As a speech-language pathologist, Anna has treated adults with communication and swallowing impairments in primarily outpatient settings, with intermittent experience in the inpatient, home health and SNF settings. She has worked extensively with the adult neurogenic patient population in multidisciplinary clinics. Anna holds a MS degree in Speech- Language Pathology from Idaho State University.

Hali Strickler, MA CCC-SLP
Hali Strickler is an AAC Services Coordinator for TechOWL at the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University. She received both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Speech, Language, and Hearing Science from Temple University. Hali has spoken at the Assistive Technology Industry Association (ATIA) conference and was a 2023 Joy Zabala Spirit Award recipient for her session on transition and AAC. She has been a featured guest on several disability advocacy podcasts.
