Course Description
Knowledge of high-tech AAC allows Occupational Therapists to maximize communication with patients with communication impairments. This course introduces Lingraphica high-tech AAC devices, including presentation of evidence base and clinical merits. The course defines candidates for and core benefits of high-tech AAC as well as provides information on device customization to maximize life participation and bridge occupational gaps. A live demonstration of the device is shared showing how to edit and customize as well as utilize multimodal features of the device. Information is provided regarding Lingraphica AAC device trials and funding.

Requirements for Satisfactory Course Completion:
Completion requires learners to (1) view/attend the instructional presentation in full; (2) receive a minimum of 80% on the learning assessment; (3) submit a course evaluation; and (4) submit a valid time-log with minimum number of required hours. Learners may retake the learning assessment as needed until the satisfactory score is achieved. Course completion will be removed for those learners who do not comply with time-log requirements. Anna joined Lingraphica in 2019. As a speech-language pathologist, Anna has treated adults with
communication and swallowing impairments in primarily outpatient settings, with per diem experience in the inpatient setting. She has also worked extensively with the adult neurogenic patient population in multidisciplinary clinics. Anna holds a BS and MS degree from Idaho State University.

Teresa Thompson, MA, CCC-SLP
Teresa joined Lingraphica in 2020. She has more than 12 years of experience in speech-language pathology and has worked as a speech-language pathologist with adults in the acute care, outpatient, skilled nursing and home health settings. Teresa earned her BSBA from the University of Denver and her Masters of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from Northwestern University.
