Course Description
This course shared lessons learned from how COVID-19 changed the future of aphasia support programs and how the aphasia community came together to overcome the forced isolation by providing online support to individuals with aphasia and their families worldwide. We provided a snapshot of how Aphasia Recovery Connection (ARC) and Lingraphica collaborated to develop a virtual aphasia program.

Course Completion Requirements 

  1. Attendance and/or Completion of Online Lecture
  2. Completion of Learning Assessment with a minimum score of 70%
  3. Completion of an Activity Evaluation

 

Instructional Personnel 

Brianne A. Morrison, CCC-SLP-D/ATP  

Dr. Morrison joined Lingraphica in 2011 and is the Customer Experience and Engagement Manager. Brianne has dedicated the majority of her career to serving adults with complex communication needs and their families. She is a RENSA certified Assistive Technology Professional and is formally trained in the methods of Supported Conversation for Adults with Aphasia (SCA). She has been an active volunteer for the non-profit organization Aphasia Recovery Connection (ARC) since 2014, and a member of their Advisory Board since 2019. Brianne received her B.A. and M.A from Hofstra University and her clinical doctorate in speech language pathology (SLPD) at Nova Southeastern University.

Katie Strong, Ph.D., CCC-SLP  

Dr. Strong leads the Strong Story Lab at Central Michigan University where she explores how clinicians can support people with aphasia rebuild their identity by co-constructing stories about who they are. Dr. Strong is a Tavistock Aphasia Scholar and a Project BRIDGE Midwest Regional Coordinator. Her professional activities include: CAPCSD Board President-Elect, MSHF Board Member, ASHA SIG 2 Coordinating Committee, ASHA Continuing Education Board Member, and Aphasia Access Conversations Podcast Host.
