AAC and Aphasia: Putting Research Into Practice

Course Description
This 1-hour course highlighted recent research into best practices when using AAC with people with aphasia combined with tips and case studies from practicing SLPs. Topics included when to introduce AAC, the benefits of early introduction, and tips for success in an inpatient setting. We will review factors that can impact success beyond language impairment and identify helpful AAC features for clients.

Completion requires learners to (1) view/attend the instructional presentation in full; (2) receive a minimum of 80% on the learning assessment; and (3) submit a course evaluation. Course Completion Requirements 

  1. Attendance and/or Completion of Online Lecture
  2. Completion of Learning Assessment with a minimum score of 70%
  3. Completion of an Activity Evaluation

Caitlin Mueller, MS, CCC-SLP 

Caitlin Mueller joined Lingraphica’s Clinical Consultant Team in 2015. She holds a B.A. in psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a B.S. in Communication Studies from Utah State University and an M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of the Pacific. She has experience with evaluating and treating clients with a variety of communication impairments using multiple AAC devices and apps.
