Let's Get Functional 2: Hands-on with Lingraphica Hub

This course has been developed for delivery to speech-language pathologists. It is registered with ASHA for 0.2 CEU.

This course is only available to SLPs who have already completed a 30 minute device demo with a Lingraphica Clinical Educator.

Learners must use the most updated version of Chrome for all CEU activities on this portal. Using mobile devices or other browsers at any juncture will cause an error in the course completion process.
This is a 2-hour self-study course to become familiar with personalizing Lingraphica AAC devices. To get started, download the time log from the link listed in the Resources section. Fill in the time log with all of the time you spend completing the course requirements.
The first component of the course is a live device demonstration with a Lingraphica clinical educator, which will last approximately 30 minutes.

Here are your next steps to be eligible for CEU credit:
STEP ONE: Get some practice and email your work to your Clinical Educator. This includes programming a Lingraphica AAC device based on one of the provided case studies. Consider what is most meaningful to the client and what vocabulary they’ll need in order to achieve success. When completed, take pictures of what you did and email to your Clinical Educator. Please DO NOT upload these materials to your Learning Center. If you’d like to discuss the customization, schedule a follow-up call with your Clinical Educator. STEP TWO: Now it's time to return to the Lingraphica online Learning Portal. Once you have completed your time log and saved it to your computer as a PDF, return to this course found in the "Current" tab within your Learning Center. Then, upload your time-log using Chrome as your browser.
STEP THREE: After the time log upload, complete the course evaluation and learning assessment when you see the "Launch Paperwork" orange icon appear. You will know the CEU process is complete when you can access your Certificate of Completion found in the "Completed" tab within your Learning Center.
Your time log will be reviewed for accuracy and you will be contacted if revisions are needed.

This course provided hands-on instruction in programming and customizing a Lingraphica AAC device using its latest all-in-one software, Hub. A device demo taught basic functions and tools for customizing a device to maximize life participation. Current research was examined. A hands-on project personalizing the device based on a case study patient was also completed and reviewed.

  • Perform basic programming functions on a Lingraphica Hub AAC device, including adding, deleting, and editing icons

  • Identify three applications available to assist with meaningful device personalization 

  • Cite research demonstrating the benefit of AAC and personalization

     

 
Time-Ordered Agenda:
 
  • 30 minutes: Device demonstration 

  • 30 minutes: Research review 

  • 45 minutes: Hands-on demonstration based on case study 

  • 15 minutes: Review of personalization

  1. Attendance and/or Completion of Online Lecture

Beth joined Lingraphica in 2018. She has experience providing speech and language services for the adult population in the acute, rehab, and home health settings. Beth holds a bachelors in English from Virginia Tech and a Master’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Old Dominion University.

Angela Mooney, MS, CCC-SLP 

Angela joined Lingraphica in 2021. She has experience providing speech and language services for the adult population in the acute, outpatient, and inpatient rehab settings. Angela holds a bachelors in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Indiana University and a Master’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Northwestern University.

Caitlin Mueller, MS, CCC-SLP  

Caitlin Mueller joined Lingraphica’s Clinical Consultant Team in 2015. She holds a B.A. in psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a B.S. in Communication Studies from Utah State University and an M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of the Pacific. She has experience with evaluating and treating clients with a variety of communication impairments using multiple AAC devices and apps.

Anna Reeve, MS, CCC-SLP  

Anna joined Lingraphica in 2019. As a speech-language pathologist, Anna has treated adults with communication and swallowing impairments in primarily outpatient settings, with intermittent experience in the inpatient, home health and SNF settings. She has worked extensively with the adult neurogenic patient population in multidisciplinary clinics. Anna holds a MS degree in Speech- Language Pathology from Idaho State University.

Jennifer Stanley, MA, CCC-SLP

Jennifer holds a BS in speech pathology and audiology and a MA in speech pathology from Ball State University, Muncie, IN.
